haha true! i was using a gillette fusion before which was a good shave but i decided to go back to the mach 3 because the fusion was too expensive. I saw someone commented saying that you need to get a safety razor? seriously, dont get one, they will cut you! stick with the mach 3. Also ill give you a tip on how to get your razor blades to last, after you shave, dry the blades, pat them with a towel or something, if you do that then each of your cartridges will last a month!

Wow! Great tips! :) thank you… I’ll start drying my blades and see how much longer they last! :) I have not found any safety razors anyway, so will be sticking with Mach 3… I no longer suffer from shave rash using this method! ;)

yeah just dry the blades with a towel after you shave, ive been doing this for a while and the most ive got out of 1 razor cartridge is 2 and a half months! it really does work. Yeah safety razors arnt on sale at supermarkets now i dont think, if you wanted to get one you would have to go on the internet, just stick with the mach 3 if your not getting any irritation :)

@patellaman about how long does it take for the irritation to go away once you start using your method?

  8. patellaman January 25, 2012 at 4:53 am #

From my experience once the hair has grown out from the surface of the skin any irritation should subside (6-24 hours generally speaking). Although I have not encountered any irritation by using this method. :)

You should use a straight razor, apparently they are the best tool for the job even to this day. Yes, make a video of that, maybe even get your head shaved with one!

I tried your shave ! Just the way you did it , but after your done , and you feel your face , so many prickles and missed spots are exposed as you brush your hand across your face for verification! Sir your method may help reduce redness and bumps , but does not give you the smoooth as a babies behind shave! I’m sorry !

  18. patellaman April 26, 2012 at 1:41 am #

You are correct, this method does not cut as close to the skin as alternative methods. I really appreciate your feedback! :) Have a sensational day my friend!

you did get 1st three parts right wash warm water add foam in circles softly to face leave for 20 secs before starting your shave then shave down with the grain slowly and only once in that area once you have done all your face wash re-soap and shave agaist the grain (up) try not to go over the same area to many times once should be ok keep it slow wash face add moisturizer hope this helps but this is not the video i was looking for nice try

Sounds like you already have your technique, thanks for sharing… However there’s no right/wrong in what I’m showing here, remember that by shaving slowly, the hairs are given greater resistance against the blade, moving fast slices through without that resistance. I never shave against the grain, reason being is that it shaves too close to the skin, therefore the sharp hairs irritate the skin, shaving with the grain leaves longer hairs, but still short enough not to be visible. thanks again :)

I always find if I follow the grain then the shave isn’t clean and it’s more of a stubble. My girlfriend likes clean shaven so that the skin is silky smooth. So I usually go against the grain but then get some irritation :(

I got a pretty good razer go, mach 3.

  22. patellaman May 25, 2012 at 8:44 am #

Yeah my theory is that within a few hours the stubble resurfaces anyway so I just shave so it doesn’t irritate (smooth or not), but that’s just me! haha.. Cheers for sharing your experience! :)
